Over a weekend, companies, designers, and communication professionals become the protagonists of exhibitions, conferences, and installations.
The Design Weekend format revisits the idea of traditional design weeks but moves away from large cities to focus on small towns and villages that offer a unique setting thanks to their local identity, history, landscape, and cultural and social context. This context becomes the ideal place for a new form of communication and sharing in the field of design.
This event has grown in popularity, attracting an increasing number of partner companies and establishing itself as a meeting point for design and architecture professionals from Italy and around the world.
From June 6 to 9, 2024, Design Weekend will make a stop in Ostuni.
Each edition of Design Weekend has a general theme that inspires talks and installations. For the Ostuni edition, the chosen theme is The Singularity of Space, a concept derived from astrophysics that explores the peculiarity and specificity of places, particularly relevant in the city of Ostuni.
The event includes exhibitions spread through the alleys of Ostuni, installations in the squares, and an exhibition, Design in White, curated by Giulio Cappellini at the Diocesan Museum, which will present design objects in white.
Within this exhibition, Icone’s Luà and Lama lamps will be featured in their purest finish, as they were last January, alongside other renowned brands, for Design Weekend Courmayeur.
During the event, participants can interact through various formats, including meetings and interviews with partner companies and designers, curated by the anchorman Giorgio Tartaro.
The design studios and brands involved will create “singular” spaces with different functions, arranged on a large plan reproduced on the main square, contributing to a rich visual and functional experience.
Design Weekend in Ostuni is presented as a unique opportunity to explore design in a context that values both innovation and the local setting, promoting a fruitful dialogue between tradition and future visions of design.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Ostuni and the Ministry of Tourism and under the patronage of ADI, the Association for Industrial Design.
