Eterea: the lightness of light meets the substance of wood

Eterea lamp | Icone Luce

Scent and warmth for contemporary interiors: an oval parabola embracing canaletto walnut.

A subtle tension runs through Icone’s 2025 novelties: the desire to create a dialogue between technology and material, precision and poetry. Within this balance lies Eterea, a lamp designed by Marco Pagnoncelli, whose very name evokes suspension, intangible lightness.

At the heart of the project is an oval-shaped parabola—resembling an eye—that collects and diffuses light according to a principle central to the designer’s vision:

“Light should never disturb the eyes, but accompany the gaze.”

The result is a soft, diffused glow, a warm presence that dresses the space rather than overwhelming it.

Wood as Reflector

A defining element—shared across Icone’s 2025 new releases—is real canaletto walnut wood. Not a simple aesthetic feature, but a living surface that becomes an integral part of the lamp: a reflector and furnishing element at once.

The process is entirely artisanal: as thin as a layer of skin, the wood sheet is hand-applied, pressed, refined, and finished with protective varnishes that preserve its natural grain, scent, and tactile essence.

This is a wood that doesn’t hide, it reveals its veins, porosity, and true nature.

A Warm Light in Dialogue with the Interior

Even in its chromatic choices, Pagnoncelli breaks away from the conventional: classic whites are replaced by a soft butter hue, conceived to harmonize with wood tones and the natural materials that define contemporary interiors.

Not a sterile neutral, but a subtle shade that enhances the light while engaging in dialogue with parquet, textiles, and architectural finishes.

Form and Movement

Eterea functions as both ceiling and wall lamp. Its rotating oval parabola and adjustable arm allow for dynamic configurations, transforming the fixture into an elegant horizontal presence, up to one metre wide, that reshapes the space with light.

Like all new Icone 2025 designs, Eterea uses high-efficiency LEDs (160–170 lumens/Watt), custom-developed to ensure energy savings, long life, and effective heat dissipation.

A technology that remains invisible, hidden behind pure forms, so the light itself becomes the true protagonist.

Eterea is a design gesture that brings nature into architecture, a discreet, refined presence that ignites material and transforms wood into light.
