One glance was enough to file the object under classic. <strong>Eccentrico<\/strong> uses it differently. The wood is inset into the structure like the finish on a piece of furniture and, alongside gloss and matt lacquers, brings the lamp closer to furnishing than to the world of technical fittings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taken one by one, the elements of Eccentrico are familiar. Track is one of the most widespread systems in architectural lighting, and the circle and wood belong to every designer&#8217;s vocabulary. \u201c<em>We brought together elements everyone knows to arrive at a different kind of lamp,<\/em>&#8221; says Marco Pagnoncelli, who oversaw the project. &#8220;<em>People look at it and say: I&#8217;ve never seen it like this.<\/em>&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>A single wood<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Icone chose <strong>one wood only: Canaletto walnut<\/strong>. Rather than build a range of light and dark oak, ash and their variants, the aim was a wood that could sit alongside almost anything. Canaletto is neither dark nor light, and both tones coexist in its grain. That is why it relates as easily to an oak floor as to deeper-toned furniture, without having to imitate either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lacquers can be specified in any colour. The wood can be customised too, but this makes sense on larger contracts, such as the rooms of a hotel, because each new species calls for material research and sampling. It is also the territory where Eccentrico works best: generously scaled homes and hospitality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>Behind the headboard<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Anyone who has furnished a bedroom knows the question: which lamp goes on the bedside table? Mounted behind the headboard, Eccentrico handles <strong>both the ambient light of the room and the light for reading<\/strong> with a single object. Backlighting runs along the entire structure and gives the room a diffused glow. The adjustable spotlights are aimed at the page and switched on separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each spotlight is controlled by a slender touch-dimmer rod that drops down beside it, within reach from the pillow. A short tap switches it on and off, and a longer press adjusts the intensity. The lamp remembers the level it was left at and returns to it when switched back on, whether full, low or halfway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inside every rod and every lamp is a numbered selector. Set the same number on the right-hand rod and spotlight and a different one on the other side, and each person controls only their own light: whoever reads late won&#8217;t wake whoever is sleeping alongside. The bedside table, meanwhile, stays free for a phone and an alarm clock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>Beyond the bedroom<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The headboard is the most immediate application. The system <strong>can also be ceiling-mounted and extended with further tracks<\/strong> and accessories to follow the layout of the space. DALI integration is in development. Already, on request, each light source can be powered by its own DALI driver and managed by the home automation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It needs space around it: placed among other lamps, it loses much of its presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/iconeluce.com\/en\/\">Eccentrico<\/a> is available from October 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We return to Eccentrico to look closely at two details: the wood chosen for its finish and the way the light is controlled beside the bed.
