What does a young designer like Niccol\u00f2 Adolini think?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nthe direct social media of &#8216;Icone\nTalks&#8217;, Giulio Cappellini met the young designer Niccol\u00f2 Adolini\nwith whom they talked about the trends in national design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cappellini\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\nstrongly believe in good design and even if at the moment, in my\nopinion, there is a little too much decoration, today it is a little\ntoo fashionable. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do\nyou think there will be a return to good design, that is to the\norigins of the Italian design of the 50-60s? We are rediscovering\nthese wonderful products even in times of social networks, those of\nMagistretti and Zanusos which today, after several decades, still\ndemonstrate great validity. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\nwould like to know from a young man like you, who loves rigorous\ndesign, if you are convinced that we have to grit our teeth beyond\nthe fashions of the moment. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adolini\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Absolutely\nyes. As rightly said, being a lover of rigorous, almost minimal\ndesign, I often find it difficult to interact with companies that\nhave taken completely different paths from mine, namely that of\ndecorative design. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My\nidea on decorative design is that the problem is to be found in\ntoday&#8217;s market, it is much weaker than in the past and companies\ndon&#8217;t want to take the risks of doing something different than what\nis already there. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore,\ndecorative design is almost a consequence of this stagnation that has\ntaken place, of the companies&#8217; will to do nothing different, no new\nproject that gives you that &#8216;Wow&#8217; feeling. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s\nas if they wanted to play it safe, that&#8217;s a bit like what happens in\nBrazil, where they show the product to 200 retailers. Companies in\nItaly do a little bit of this, instead of showing the product to 200\nretailers they limit the designers, they make them do only small\ndecorations that make an object different from what already exists or\ncompared to what is already made by a competitor, that&#8217;s all. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So\nthey try to guarantee sales without risking that this object, too\ndifferent, too minimal, then risks not bearing its fruits, that is,\nits earnings for both the company and the designer. There is a bit of\nlaziness. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cappellini\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You find me fully in agreement. I think that the ability to be contemporary is fundamental for a company, today and tomorrow, and you cannot be contemporary if you work without innovation.
