From installations and designer creations, Icone brings the art of lighting into the maritime context of Versilia with its nature-inspired creation.
From September 26 to 29, 2024, design takes center stage in Versilia with the third edition of the Pietrasanta Design Weekend, an event that, like previous editions in Courmayeur and Ostuni, brings the best of the Italian design and architecture scene to an extraordinary setting. Organized by Studio Coronel, the format inspired by the Milan Design Weeks will take place in the suggestive spaces of the San Gerardo Complex, where innovative installations and products will engage with the historic charm of the location.
This year’s theme, “The Distinctive Trait,” invites companies and designers to express themselves through design, reflecting on their cultural background and how they meet client needs. This comparison highlights the differences between artistic production and industrial production, exploring the cultural and creative influences that define the uniqueness of Italian design.
During this extended weekend, Pietrasanta will transform into a hub of inspiration with exhibitions, installations, and talks dedicated to creative reflection. Icone Luce, a leading company in the design lighting sector, will be one of the protagonists of this event, bringing one of its most fascinating creations: the Salsola lamp designed by Marco Pagnoncelli.
The Salsola, an outdoor lamp designed by Marco Pagnoncelli for Icone Luce, will be among the highlights of the “Living by the Sea” exhibition, curated by Giulio Cappellini and Giulio Iachetti. Hosted in the prestigious San Gerando Complex during the Pietrasanta Design Weekend, this exhibition represents a journey through the beaches of Versilia from the 1960s to today, narrating the evolution of design linked to this unique landscape.
Salsola, with its nature-inspired design and organic shapes, fits perfectly into this maritime context. Its sinuous and soft lines recall the movements of the sea and sand dunes, while its light and versatile structure makes it an ideal lamp for outdoor spaces. Made with durable and high-quality materials, Salsola successfully combines aesthetics and functionality in perfect balance, enhancing the natural beauty of outdoor environments.
The presence of Salsola at the “Living by the Sea” exhibition is not coincidental. The lamp embodies the spirit of Versilia, a land where nature and man coexist in harmonious balance. The beaches of Versilia, with their history and charm, have always inspired designers and artists, and Salsola, with its refined design and ability to merge with the landscape, is a tribute to this tradition.
The exhibition will narrate, through design objects like Salsola, the evolution of outdoor spaces, their relationship with nature, and living. It offers an opportunity to reflect on how design can meet not only aesthetic needs but also functional challenges while maintaining a strong connection with the historical and cultural context.
With its participation in the Pietrasanta Design Weekend, Icone once again demonstrates its ability to interpret design as an art form capable of dialoguing with the context, history, and nature. Salsola is just one example of how the company can combine innovation and tradition to create products that not only illuminate but also enrich spaces with their beauty and functionality.
The Pietrasanta Design Weekend will be an unmissable opportunity to see some of the most iconic creations of Italian design up close, and the Salsola lamp will undoubtedly be one of the most fascinating examples of how design can transform light into a unique aesthetic experience.
