From 20 to 26 April, Icone Luce is among the protagonists of SuperCity, the exhibition curated by Giulio Cappellini occupying Superstudio Maxi in Barona for the entire duration of Milan Design Week 2026.
SuperCity’s concept is that of an ideal city — not a generic metaphor, but an actual structure: 15 projects composing an urban map of contemporary design. Interior and outdoor spaces, different functions, different atmospheres. Architecture, design, art and photography coexist without a fixed hierarchy. Cappellini, who has spent decades working at the intersection of these languages, signs the curatorial direction of the entire exhibition.
Icone’s presence unfolds across two distinct sections.
In The City, the main exhibition, Icone products contribute to the construction of the urban quarter imagined by Cappellini, alongside brands including Cassina, Living Divani, Moroso and Boffi|DePadova. Each area is conceived to evoke a specific function: light becomes part of the architecture of the space, not an element added after the fact. Here Icone illuminates the interiors and gardens of the residential settings, with Salsola, No Name and Lama among the featured pieces.
When Design Becomes Art is a long avenue where design objects become works of art. Icone is among the few names invited to explore the boundary between functional product and installation, alongside Flaminia, Abet Laminati, Alexandre Fontani, Edoardo Cassina and Hsiang Han Hsu. In this installation, Lama table lamps arranged in a line take centre stage — icons placed on an altar.
The Bolla, Emisfero, Ghianda, Gru and Tecla lamps complete the selection of Icone pieces chosen by Giulio Cappellini for the occasion.
On 23 April, the talk programme brings to Superstudio Maxi names including Carlo Ratti, Marcel Wanders and Alberto Alessi, with Cappellini moderating and participating across multiple sessions.
SuperCity is open to the public and industry professionals from 20 to 26 April, Superstudio Maxi, Via Moncucco 35, Milan. Hours: 11.00–21.00 (11.00–18.00 on 26 April).
