Duetto: the simple and sophisticated suspension Lamp

The updated design focuses on texture and precious finishes.

Duetto is a suspension lamp designed by Mario Ornaghi for Icone luce. It is a very simple yet extremely sophisticated lamp, with an indirect LED lighting system that starts from the circle below and radiates light onto the dome.

The dome can have different finishes, from extremely technical ones such as painted white and black, to more precious finishes such as silver or gold leaf, always mixed with either tone-on-tone or contrasting finishes.

Once again, we see an Icone lamp with very simple shapes that, precisely because of its soft lines, reminds us of classic suspension lamps. A pure object with a very strong connotation.

The different finishes give a completely different image to the product.

Another extremely important element is the quality of the finish textures. We are not talking about simple flat finishes, but highly textured ones, which give great preciousness to the lighting element.

Today, I think that inventing new shapes is extremely difficult. Designing nowadays means working on finishes, textures, and materials.

Fortunately, we have new production systems, new materials, and new possibilities for working on surfaces that allow us to obtain surfaces with a strongly artisanal content even in an industrial way. And I think that this is the great innovation of design in 2023.
